Wagon Snake: AffableHipster

I was trying to envision a regular sized snake swallowing a covered wagon but I couldn't make it work. Instead I give you a gigantic snake. As if the settlers didn't have enough to worry about.

Conch: thorn

Conch: thornAnyone read "Lord of the Flies"? To speak a person had to possess the conch shell. Reminds me of when I was working on a group animated project. Instead of budget for a content management software to control who animated what character in which scene, we just used a conch shell.

This thing was quite the enigma to sketch. Wishing I had decided some other medium. Something dry and not wet. Though, the shell does come from water. It's a sketch and I cheated a bit in rendering. Didn't keep enough white out for certain areas. Started light enough that it was easy to go darker if I had to. Still there's a lack of pop from certain areas.

Procrastination: consumatron

procrastination-consumatronThese dudes were all over the place in my animation classes. To hear them tell it, their finished animation was going to be greater than the current Hollywood blockbuster.

In some classrooms, last year's movie hits were played during lab time. It was considered "research" though I have no idea how it helped anyone.

History: woox2

History-woox2One nice thing about requests in text form only is the amount of freedom it affords. Woox2 wondered if I could represent "History". Of course. I give to you the man who instead of admitting any personal failings prefers to let history be the judge.

I decided to create this one as a continuous line drawing to represent the never ending string of lies and deceitful maneuvers. I for one will be happy when his political line recedes into history once and for all.

A Man, Eating a Man-Eating Venus Fly Trap: two-fer

Man,eatingAman-eatingPlantThis one is a two-fer. Perhaps even a three-fer depending on edbot's inspiration for his request. There's a book out there called "Eats Shoots and Leaves" and it's all about punctuation and comma placement. Not just that but what a funny thing the English language is.

Minotaur: Booalready

Minotaur 4 BooalreadyMy sketchbook is 3 inches by 5.5 inches. I'm not able to complete entire scenes of anything epic. At least not in an airport waiting area.

I used to avoid drawing animals as a child. No idea why.

Squirrel w/ Hat: enchiladaplate

Squirrel w/ Hat: EnchiladaplateI despise these little furry-tailed rats. I will chase after them when they are eating the tulips in my yard. Still, with a bowler hat and a few flourishes to make him appear more dignified, I kinda like this chap.

Thanks to enchiladaplate for the suggestion. You all have until tonight at midnight to tell me what to draw for Sunday's sketch.

p.s. I am on the road today and without a scanner. There will be a better version of this sketch after I return home.

64 pages

What 2 Draw?So I got this sketchbook as part of a the sketchbook project. Rather than just fill it up with random things I see in a day, I am crowd-sourcing the subject matter to you. You tell me what to draw. If I like it, I'll draw it. Here's how:
  1. Follow SketchIt on twitter
  2. Send me a suggestion @SketchIt
  3. I'll review suggestions from the previous day
  4. Sketch
  5. Scan
  6. Post
  7. Repeat
There's just 64 pages. Well, there's also the inside and outside of the front and back covers. Those are special requests and we will have some fun and games to decide who gets picked for those.

When it's all said and done, I'll send the book back to the art house coop folks and my sketchbook will be included in a group show! This is going to be so much fun.
