Darshan requested a photo of him and his friend Louise to be sketched. Here's what the ball-point penned:

Castle Greyscale

Ed said:
My new domain name is CastleGrayscale.com, of course a wee parody of Castle Grayskull. I would like a picture of my new castle (in grayscale of course!) but it doesnt have to look like Castle Grayskull.

Enjoy your new castle, Ed! Thanks for the opportunity.

Hey there,

Really have enjoyed this so far.
In fact, I'm going to go for another.
I would like the headshot of me sketched in a style similar to Patrick Nagel if possible.

Thanks,

Hi gang. It's been awhile but I've gotten back on the bandwagon. Well lets start this off with a bang. This guy asked for a vector drawing of himself...and I've happily and quickly I might add obliged.

Have fun you guys...oh and stop by some time.

Hope ya Dig it!

5 for Amit

Amit wanted 5 sketches done - one for each of 5 photos he submitted. They all appear to be from a wedding, I am unsure if they are from Amit's wedding or one of his friends'. Regardless, here are the sketches - I hope you enjoy them!

Jack was born a pirate

Here's little bucaneer Jack and his parrot, Speghetti for Ed.

Bride & Groom

I would like something like a bride and groom in an outline or something else that signifies a wedding...but it shouldn't have too much detail.

This one is for Remco as payback for his referral during our April Fools promotion. Give our best to the happy couple.

Happy Father's Day

GriffinGrandpaDon

Like many of you I waited too long to get my father something for Father's Day. So here's a sketch of his grandson. He's getting the original in the mail sometime next week but he will be able to see the sketch right away here on sketch-it.

My father used to run the Maine Rocker Company out of Liberty, Maine with his wife Jane. Quadruple Bi-pass surgery forced him into early retirement after 13 years in business. Give him a shout if you bought one of his Maine Rockers.

Save My Bacon

SaveBacon

Help! I have to see my dad a day earlier than I thought I would for Father's Day (as in I'm seeing him tomorrow!) and didn't know what to get him when it dawned on me: a sketch of this photo! If there's any way to get it before, say noon tomorrow, that would save my bacon. (If not, he'll love it just as much if he gets it late : ) Thanks!!!

Telephone MashUp Update

Here's the latest entry in the Telephone MashUp:

SoulChoice provided the first sketch:

Below is the photo from PhotoJojo that SoulChoice picked to start this crazy game:

So now it's up to you to keep the "conversation" alive. There are multiple ways to carry the conversation along.
  1. Start with the sketch and submit a photo to the PhotoJojo Flickr Group.
  2. Take the photo at the top and submit a sketch (not limited to sketch-it artists).
  3. Look at the whole process and create a video or whatever.
Jump in anywhere. We'll get the farthest continual thread if you pick things up from the top but that is not required. The best part about this is, you can join in the conversation at any point.

We started this out with sketch-it artists and members of the PhotoJojo Group. But you have some fun with it also. Just post a comment on sketch-it thread or the PhotoJojo thread with a link to your contribution. We will seek you out and upload your creation.

The Girls

Mia requested a sketch of "The Girls":

Best friends but....

One of my most detailed requests to date... 2 dads, 1 each side of the Atlantic, US Dad is really Scottish and has a baby girl (age 9 months) in his arms, Scottish Dad has a baby boy (age 18 months) on his shoulders. Dads are best friends butThis one took a little longer than a minute due to the amount of detail and content in the sketch. I wasn't quite sure how to depict two Scottish dads so I did go for the visuals of a kilt. The request ended at "best friends but"... it didnt say... so hopefully that question lingers with the sketch...

UPDATE: the request was meant to end "Dads are best friends but are seperated by an ocean."

"...for my husband to keep in his wallet"

Amanda wanted a sketch that her husband could keep in his wallet. The rest of her request may not be "G" rated enough for this family site, so we'll leave it to your imagination. To be safe, I also did not post the sketch I sent her, and instead posted an altered version.

Hope you (and your husband) like your sketch(es)!

Gathering

Women and child on beach
David Bridson

David's note said he "will email". I assume he means he'll email a photo. We haven't received one yet so I decided to draw this. Whenever David does send us the photo, well sketch that too.

Ugly Tie...

Oddest request I've gotten yet: "An ugly tie in a gift box"

OK. So here it is. I was gonna do a quickie but I decided it had to be color so I could use colors that just clashed all around and it took a little longer than it should have. If I were inclined to take more time on this I would have mixed patterns like stripes and paisley or something but I didn't want to spend all night on it.

Hope you like it John!

Edmund Meinhardt

Edmund Meinhardt wanted a sketch of himself based on the one that appears on his site: edmundmeinhardt.tripod.com

Edmund is a journalist - therefore I drew him with his press card and Fedora ala the old movie reporters.

Hope you like it Ed!

Let it Rain

I'd like to be in the rain under an umbrella, reading a novel.

According to Custom

Custom Work 3

We at sketch-it love to create quick pieces of art just for you. For personal use or for non-profits, a dollar will get you a decent sketch to show your friends. This work is created under the Creative Commons Attribution- NonCommercial- ShareAlike 2.5 License. In essence it belongs to everyone and nobody in particular. If you are a business owner and are looking to redesign your logo or company letterhead where you own all the rights to the image, those jobs are not elligible for the one dollar + one minute = one sketch service.

Now there's hope.

The logo above was created by Brian Massey under contract as a proof of concept for the sketch-it Custom Work service. This is one example of the quality of work you can expect from our artists.

Simply contact an artist of your choosing from the Contributors list. Send them an email and tell them what you are looking for. They will gladly provide you with some options and quote you a price. Then you and the artist can agree on a contract and terms of payment. Depending on the type of agreement, you can own the image and duplicate it, make a banner out of it and run it up a flagpole if you want.

We can post the artwork here on sketch-it or not. It's up to you. Maybe you'd like us to post the work in progress so you can field comments from our site's visitors. People love to see the process of creation.
